چکیده

K. Kaczmarska, B. Grabowska, D. Drożyński, AGH University of Science and Technology, Faculty of Foundry Engineering, Krakow, Poland The results of preliminary tests of selected properties of the moulding sands with the binder in the form of a 5 % water solution of the sodium salt of carboxymethyl starch (with a degree of substitution (DS) of 0,2 and 0,87) are presented in this study. The moulding sand properties such as permeability, abrasion resistance, tensile and bending strength after curing are shown in series of tests. The cure process was conducted in a field of electromagnetic radiation within the microwave range. The effect of the microwave treatment on the moulding sand was evaporating of water (solvent in a binder) and cross-linking of the polymeric binder. As a result the cured moulding sands with particular properties, essential in the context of its application in the mould technology in the foundry industry, were obtained.

New Bicomponent Binders for Foundry Moulding Sands Composed of Phenol-furfuryl Resin and Polycaprolactone

The aim of this article is to test the properties of foundry moulding sands with a new bicomponent organic binder. The new binder is the composition of phenol-furfuryl resin, commonly used in foundry practice and biodegradable material – polycaprolactone. The paper presents the research of strength properties, thermal destruction and thermal deformation of moulding sands with a new bicomponent ...

Influence of a Reclaimed Sand Addition to Moulding Sand with Furan Resin on Its Impact on the Environment

Metalcasting involves having a molten metal poured in a hollow mould to produce metal objects. These moulds are generally made of sand and are chemically bonded, clay-bonded, or even unbounded. There are many binder systems used. Binders based on furfuryl resins constitute currently the highest fraction in the binders no-bake group. Moulding sand, after knocking out the cast, is partially recla...

Laboratory Studies of the Effect of Recycled Glass Powder Additive on the Properties of Polymer Modified Asphalt Binders

In this paper, the effect of adding recycled glass powder (RGP) as a third component in polymer modified bitumen is studied. RGP and styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) is added to the base bitumen in order to prepare modified binders and mixtures. The initial study is performed to determine physical properties of unmodified, SBR modified and RGP-SBR modified asphalt binders which prove RGP's compat...

Preconcentration of Zn(II) in Water Sample Using Modified NanoFiber

A new simple and reliable method for rapid and selective extraction and determination of trace levels of Zn(II) ion is developed. Zn(II) ions are adsorbed quantitatively during passage of aqueous samples through PET-AA/AAm nano fiber modified. Almost all matrix elements were found to pass through the nano fiber to drain. Modified Poly (ethylene terephthalate)-grafted-Acrylic acid/Acryl amide Na...
